Are you a student in need of financial assistance? Fondation Desjardins offers the most university scholarships in Quebec. It also offers some in Ontario and awards prizes to caisse members and Desjardins Group officers and employees who volunteer in the community. 

The life and actions of Fondation Desjardins are very well-kept secrets. Created in 1970, it is now taking a leap with its new mission of managing Desjardins' philanthropic partnerships.

Education remains its top priority and it is currently evaluating submitted records of scholarship applicants. Any person whose primary residence is in Quebec or who resides in Ontario and is a member of a Desjardins caisse is eligible. Scholarships are offered to undergraduate, graduate and doctoral university students and vocational and CEGEP students.    

Certain scholarships are only offered to students in the fields of finance, cooperation and democratic life and the development of skills and knowledge. A new Fondation Desjardins information section was created in the Co-opme section of the Desjardins.com website.

Is Fondation Desjardins generous? In 2010 alone, altogether with the caisses it awarded 3,500 scholarships worth a total of $2.7 million. In 2012, Fondation Desjardins will evaluate applications submitted before March 31. Since Fondation Desjardins was created 42 years ago, nearly 9,600 young people shared over $13 million.
