"I experienced cooperation abroad through the DoingMyPart.Coop contest", said a winner of a trip to Vietnam as part of the 2011 DoingMyPart.Coop contest, a Développement international Desjardins (DID) initiative created 6 years ago.
In the first youth blog of 2012, I'd like to talk to you about this great contest. Let me begin by saying a few words about Développement international Desjardins, which initiated this contest. This Desjardins Group component seeks to establish Desjardins' cooperative values and approach abroad, in less prosperous communities. Their contributions are used to support small business owners, local retailers, farmers and communities to give them access to various financial products and services in line with their needs, including microcredit. DID's experience shows that promoting access to microcredit is an important instrument of economic development for these communities. For over 40 years, experts shared Desjardins' experience and expertise in over 50 countries on 4 continents.
I believe that discovering the benefits of cooperation during a stay in
v imagine yourself in
v imagine meeting people, communities and entrepreneurs and discovering a new culture, its customs, cuisine, music and much more.
v imagine having discussions with a DID expert on his or her experiences and learning about his or her daily life.
