2017 Cooperathon

Social entrepreneurship will change the world

Montreal, November 14, 2017 - Over 600 participants, experts and mentors were at the Complexe Desjardins last Thursday to hear the winners of the third Cooperathon announced. Billed as an innovation competition, the idea behind this "marathon of cooperation" is to bring experts, entrepreneurs and participants together to produce innovative solutions to social issues. This year, over 28 days, over 100 teams worked to find ways to use smart technology to develop solutions with a lasting social impact in four sectors:

Fintech | Health | Education |  Smart city

Working alongside a hundred of experts and mentors, participants submitted over 110 different ideas, from which 63 projects were presented at the semi-finals in Quebec City and Montreal on November 4 and 5. Of these, 25 finalists were chosen to present their projects to the Cooperathon jury.

After the resounding success of the 2016 Cooperathon, the event was brought back in 2017 with some new features:

  • An Impact startup track for startups looking to make a positive and lasting social impact
  • First edition including Education sector
  • Three locations: Montreal, Quebec City/LĂ©vis and Lyon, France
  • Use of the Agorize innovation challenge platform
