New partnership brings free recreational activities for locals to enjoy.

In Ontario, the Town of Aurora will be celebrating Desjardins Day on the second Wednesday of every month. The two-year Desjardins Days initiative was announced May 8 by Barbara Bellissimo, Senior Vice-President of Desjardins Insurance, and Aurora Mayor Tom Mrakas.

Community members are invited to participate in a variety of physical activities at both the Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex and Aurora Family Leisure Complex, including skating and swimming, as well as drop-in gymnasium and basketball sessions.

The best part? The activities are all free, thanks to new partnership between Desjardins and the Town of Aurora.

Also announced May 8 was the renaming of the pool at the complex. It will now be known as the Desjardins Swimming Pool.

"This day signifies the strong ongoing partnership between Desjardins and the Town of Aurora," said Ms. Bellissimo. "The purpose of Desjardins is to enrich the lives of people and communities. The Desjardins Days program gives me great pride, because it is our purpose in action."

In an editorial on YorkRegion.com, Mayor Mrakas shared: "Corporate sponsorship plays a vital part in the town's ability to deliver top-notch programs and services. Your support allows us to offer new and different programs and activities, as well as helping to keep recreation costs affordable and our community healthy and active."

People in the Aurora area are encouraged to take advantage of these free sessions, with the next occurring June 12. For more information on time and location, please click here.
